Ascott to Add Four New Singapore Hotels by Year End

Ascott is cementing its position as the largest serviced residence operator in Singapore with a record four new openings to be unveiled by the end of 2019.

The new properties will bring Ascott’s Singapore portfolio to a total of 17 properties and more than 31,00 units. The four new hotels will add 846 rooms to the city’s accommodation offerings. While many guests use Ascott properties for longer stays, the new residences will also have full hotel licenses, allowing them the flexibility to host short-stay guests.

The new lyf Funan Singapore will be the world’s first property under Ascott’s new lyf brand, a co-living option designed for younger travellers. Situated in the city’s civic and cultural centre, this new property will allow business travellers to work and play hard. The nine-floor building will house 412 rooms across 279 apartments, all of which will have access to communal lounges, kitchens and laundrettes.

Set near the Novena MRT station, between the Orchard Road shopping hub and the CBD, Citadines Balestier Singapore will put guests within a stone’s throw of Singapore’s commercial heart during the day, and the city’s best retail and dining after hours. Perched above a three-storey retail hub, the property will boast 166 guest rooms – split across studio or one-bedroom apartments – along with a swimming pool, an outdoor fitness area with a running track, and a barbecue pit.

Next to the up-and-coming commercial and leisure hubs of the Ophir-Rochor Corridor and Beach Road precinct, Citadines Rochor Singapore will offer comfortable serviced apartments and direct access to the Tekka Place retail podium. The property will have 320 rooms, about 80% of which will be studio units; the remaining apartments will be one-bedroom or loft formats. A range of facilities will also be available here, including a residents’ lounge, swimming pool, and multi-functional spaces which can be used for events.

Tucked behind Orchard Road – Singapore’s premier shopping destination – Ji Hotel Orchard Singapore will be surrounded by a wealth of retail, dining and entertainment options and offer convenient access to the city’s business districts with MTR subway links. Ji Hotel Orchard Singapore will offer just 81 rooms, making it a quiet, central choice for business travellers.

Just down the road, Ascott will also open its first Citadines Connect property in Singapore. Citadines Connect City Centre Singapore is slated to open in 2021 and will cater to mobile business travellers looking for convenience and connectivity, fuss-free services, and easy access to recreational experiences for after-hours fun. The property will feature 169 studio apartments, as well as a business centre, rooftop terrace restaurant, swimming pool and gym.

Mr Ervin Yeo, Ascott’s Regional General Manager for Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, said, “We are on a strong growth trajectory, with our presence in our home market of Singapore expanding by over 60% in the past two years. We have a record opening of four properties this year and another four are expected to open by 2021. This is a testament to Ascott’s well-established reputation and management excellence. With the government’s pro-business policies as well as exciting initiatives to rejuvenate the city and attract investors and tourists, we see strong demand for international-class lodging properties. We will further step up Ascott’s presence in Singapore through strategic acquisitions, partnerships, management contracts, franchises and leases.”

“We are expanding our product offerings in Singapore with new-to-market brands including the ‘lyf’ co-living brand and Citadines Connect, a line of business hotels with select services. Ascott is also managing Huazhu Hotels Group’s first hotel outside of China under its Ji Hotel brand. We are confident that our new properties will appeal to both business and leisure travellers given their excellent locations surrounded by commercial buildings, tourist attractions, and innovative retail hubs.”
