ZEST by Konishi to Open in Hong Kong

Ideally suited for both casual and formal corporate entertaining, ZEST by Konishi will open in Hong Kong next month and heralds the return of one of the city’s most acclaimed Japanese chefs, Mitsuru Konishi. The newest culinary concept by Lai Sun Dining promises to be a distinctly personal project for the acclaimed Michelin-starred chef.

Chef Konishi forged his delicate blend of contemporary French technique and intelligent Japanese flair in some of the world’s most demanding kitchens, such as two Michelin-starred L’ATELIER de Joël Robuchon in Tokyo, L’Hôtel de Carantec in France, and at Taillevent, where he would become the first Japanese sous chef in the famed restaurant’s history. The chef is also well-versed in the competitive Hong Kong gastronomic scene, having worked with Lai Sun Dining since 2013, including as executive chef of Wagyu Takumi, earning two Michelin stars in 2014

The chef’s newest creation is a two-level restaurant, located on On Lan Street in Central, that is set to deliver a dining experience beyond the tried-and-tasted, one which showcases Konishi’s undeniable talents while invoking curiosity and excitement. As Hong Kong’s first chef-inspired restaurant, ZEST by Konishi is wholly-based on Konishi’s personal and gastronomic connections, his precise French Japanese culinary style, and his many journeys of discovery.

The philosophy behind the new restaurant is about putting one’s heart and soul into a given craft while also being adventurous, vivacious and energetic. At ZEST by Konishi, Konishi’s newest culinary creations will be heartfully crafted, executed with finesse and seasoned with pertinence, as the chef playfully blends new flavour profiles that will bring deep satisfaction and enjoyment to gourmets.

The Dining Room on the 28th floor will deliver haute cuisine lunch and dinner a la carte and degustation menus that will act as a canvas where Konishi will illustrate his skills and inspirations, complemented in part by the theatrical elements of an open kitchen. The Lounge, on the 29th floor, will pay tribute to Japanese culture, with delectable express set menus and bento boxes ideally suited for power lunches as well as Nippon-inspired craft cocktails.
