The Ritz-Carlton Xian Unveiled

Xian may be best known for the army of Terracotta Warriors that lurk on the city’s fringe, but business travellers heading to the city now have another way to incorporate a little leisure time into their work trip with the opening of The Ritz-Carlton Xian.

“We are delighted to bring the legendary service of The Ritz-Carlton to Xian, a city that blends the majesty of the past with the pulse of the present, and the promise of the future,” said Lisa Holladay, Global Brand Leader for The Ritz-Carlton. “By creating a unique sense of place while also celebrating the vibrant cultural legacy of the destination, The Ritz-Carlton Xian will offer guests and visitors from around the world a truly authentic experience.”

Located in Gao Xin District, the city’s business centre, The Ritz-Carlton Xian is ideally located for business travellers looking to accomplish a great deal of work in a small amount of time. But for those with a little time to spare, the hotel’s location also offers easy access to the wealth of Xian’s historical and cultural sites, including the legendary Terracotta Warriors, the Great Wild Goose Pagoda, and the old City Walls.

The Ritz-Carlton Xian

Created by Remedios Studio, hotel interiors combine timeless luxury with local accents that honour Xian’s unique architecture, history and culture which spans thousands of years, thirteen imperial Chinese dynasties, and the eastern end of the Silk Road.

The Ritz-Carlton Xian features 283 elegant guest rooms, including 31 contemporary suites, each of which has been designed to be a relaxing sanctuary and functional workspace. Working travellers will want to make sure to book a Club Floor room, which comes with full access to The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge and all its bespoke amenities and business services.

After hours, the hotel also boasts a host of amenities for socialising and relaxing. There are five signature dining experiences, including local and western cuisine at Xian Kitchen; Japanese teppanyaki at Tasuro; and authentic Cantonese dishes at Jing Xuan. The property’s fashionable bar, Flair, offers 180-degree views over the city with a list of expertly-crafted cocktails, while at the refined Lobby Lounge features an outdoor terrace that’s perfect for casual business meetings over afternoon tea.

For guests looking to maintain their wellness practices while on the road, the fitness center is stocked with a full complement of weights and cardio equipment, and also features a yoga studio. Nearby, The Ritz-Carlton Spa has an extensive menu of bespoke treatments grounded in local traditions. A highlight is the Silk Reviver, a ritual that combines massage, back exfoliation, a facial and scalp treatment that’s sure to relieve stress, jetlag and tension.

For corporate events and retreats, the luxurious property also has a plethora of state-of-the-art banquet facilities that can hold everything from conferences and meetings to cocktails and dinners. The Junior Ballroom, with direct access to an outdoor garden area, is suitable for more formal gala events.

“We are extremely pleased to debut The Ritz-Carlton in historic Xian, and expand our portfolio in major cultural destinations in China,” said Henry Lee, Chief Operations Officer & Managing Director, Greater China, Marriott International. “Affluent Chinese and international tourists traveling to Western China are increasingly seeking enriching experiences, and this opening reflects our continued commitment to provide those travelers with opportunities to explore destinations like Xian.”
