Hong Kong’s New Heat-Beating Cocktails

Sheung Wan’s Chachawan, the popular eatery specialising in dishes from Thailand’s northeastern province of Issan, has introduced a range of new cocktails that are perfect for beating the Hong Kong heat after hours.

Resident mixologist Tunny Grattidge has mixed up a series of light, fresh cocktails incorporating favourite Asian ingredients like Thai tea, calamansi, lychee and lemongrass, that are perfect for taking the edge off the summer heat – or a long day of meetings.

The new cocktails include:
You’ve Got Mail: a blend of lychee sorbet, lemon, gin and violet liquor;
TT Margarita: a concoction of Thai lime, Thai tea agave, and tequila;
Princess Jasmine: a mix of gin, Jasmin tea, lemon juice, mint and pomegranate;
Pomelo Smash: made with cucumber vodka, mint, calamansi, Campari and lemonade;
Patron’s Gift: a mixture of orange, calamansi, lemongrass, Glendalough Double Barrel and lemonade.

For those on a detox, there is also a non-alcoholic version; the Mango Chia Mocktail is a blend of mango, coconut juice, guava, lime juice, mint and ginger ale.

All the new cocktails pair perfectly with Chachawan’s signature dishes, like the som tum goong (papaya salad), pla phao glua (salt-crusted sea bass; and goong golae (whole tiger prawns). www.facebook.com/chachawan/hongkong
