United Airlines will end its services at New York’s JFK airport in October, moving its flights over to its hub at New Jersey’s Newark airport.
This means that international passengers flying into and out of the greater New York area will find themselves in Newark, rather than New York City.
However the move, due to take effect from October 25, means that international passengers will now have better connections across the United States, particularly for transcontinental connections.
United has transferred its Premium Service 757 aircraft to Newark; the aircraft will provide a nearly hourly service between Newark and Los Angeles and San Francisco.
With this, United will offer the most daily transcontinental flights in the United States, with 56daily departures on peak days in November 2015.
The move to Newark will see united offer 15 daily return flights between Newark and Los Angeles; and 17 return daily flights between Newark and San Francisco. The service also offers flat-bed seats in its United BusinessFirst cabin.
Newark airport is the New York area’s only full-service hub, and offers upgraded facilities, dining and shopping experiences, as well as convenient access to Manhattan. www.united.com
