SilkAir to Codeshare with Lao Airlines

SilkAir has signed a codeshare agreement with Lao Airlines for its flights to Vientiane – the capital city of Laos – and Luang Prabang, providing business travellers with more flight options when travelling to and from Singapore and Laos.

From October 31, 2016, SilkAir will offer a thrice weekly service to Laos on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flight will depart from Singapore for Vientiane, followed by Luang Prabang, before heading back to Singapore. With the new codeshare agreement in place, customers will have a choice of six weekly flights to Laos shared between both airlines. This new service will connect Laos with SilkAir’s network of over 100 cities worldwide via the Singapore Changi Airport hub.

SilkAir will add its ‘MI’ designator code to select Lao Airlines-operated flights between Singapore, Vientiane and Luang Prabang. On a reciprocal basis, Lao Airlines will add its ‘QV’ designator code to select SilkAir-operated flights between the two countries.

“We are delighted to seal this agreement, which will allow us the chance to promote Laos as an emerging destination more effectively to our vast network,” says SilkAir’s vice-president commercial Ryan Pua. “We hope the enhanced connectivity will bring about a greater flow of visitors between the countries.” www.silkair.com
