Lufthansa Completes Business Class Rollout

Lufthansa has now successfully completed the most extensive cabin renewal programme in the company’s history. As of now, only aircraft with new cabin interiors are in scheduled service, including 106 long-haul aircraft featuring the latest generation of the airline’s Business and Economy Class, and 76 featuring the new First Class product.

Since 2011, Lufthansa has invested an average of one million Euros per day in the refurbishing of the cabins, exchanging, modifying or installing 600 First Class seats, 7,000 Business Class seats and and more than 27,600 seats in Economy Class. For the new Premium Economy Class, which has already become a bestseller, 3,600 new seats are being installed on Lufthansa’s long-haul aircraft, with a fleet-wide roll out expected from autumn onwards.

In addition to the new seats, the inflight entertainment has been lifted to a new level with the installation of new screens and an increase of the audio and video content on offer, while FlyNet, the airline’s broadband inflight internet service, has recently become available on all long-haul flights. Broadband WiFi internet access offers passengers the opportunity to go online or to catch up with the latest news and major sports events via the FlyNet online portal during their journey, with three-quarters of all long-haul aircraft now equipped with the system.

For Lufthansa, the new, high-standards of  integrated passenger comfort are important steps on the way to becoming the first Western five-star airline. The Lufthansa offer is already being rated by passengers with very good scores, as the Skytrax customer survey confirmed in 2015. In the world’s largest survey of the airline industry Lufthansa received awards in three categories: “Best Airline Transatlantic”, “World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge” and “Best Airline in Western Europe”. www.lufthansa.com
