Kathmandu Marriott Hotel Opens in Nepal

The Nepalese capital is now welcoming business travellers with a comfortable, business-orientated property in the heart of the historic city with the opening of the new Kathmandu Marriott Hotel. The opening marks the debut of the flagship brand in Nepal.

Designed for business, aesthetes and modern travellers, the hotel pays tribute to its host country with a number of thoughtful design elements. In the lobby, a Nepalese prayer bell hands from the ceiling, set against local paintings and crafts perched along the walls. On the floor, carpets mimic the detailed weaving seen on the Dhaka topi, a brimless cap that’s part of traditional Nepalese clothing.

The 214 rooms here combine the Marriott brand’s streamlined modern design with comfort and technology. Flexible surfaces offer plenty of space for work and relaxation, which a cosy seating nook allows guests to relax while looking out over the surrounding greenery and the Himalayas in the background.

Ideal for corporate events and MICE travellers, the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel offers 8,105sqft of meeting space and six event rooms, all decked out with the latest technology. Guests staying in club rooms will also have access to the M Club executive lounge which features panoramic views of the Himalayan mountains with all-day refreshments.

The new hotel offers guests a chance to combine business with leisure with a range of drinking, dinking and wellness options. All-day dining destination Thamel Kitchen offers local and international dishes at international live-cooking stations; Edamame offers a range of Asian cuisine, including Thai, Japanese and Chinese; while KBC – Kathmandu Baking Kitchen – serves sweet treats and baked goods whipped up by the in-house patisserie. For after-hours fun, Raksi offers craft cocktails infused with local ingredients and paired with live jazz sessions.

At M-Wellness, guests can enjoy a holistic approach to wellbeing with a choice of Ayurvedic signature treatments and modern therapies designed to help spagoers unwind and rejuvenate. For those wanting a workout, there’s also an outdoor swimming pool and a fully-equipped gym.

For some cultural immersion, the hotel is also ideally located for guests to explore the history and culture of Kathmandu. The former royal residence of Narayanhiti Palace Museum; the cafes, galleries and shops of Durbarmang Street, and the tranquil Garden of Dreams are all within walking distance of the property.

“We are proud to introduce our flagship brand in the beautiful kingdom of Nepal. The country welcomed one million tourist arrivals in 2018, reaching a new record to show that this country has great tourism potential,” said Mike Fulkerson, Vice President, Brand & Marketing Asia Pacific, Marriott International. “For both business and leisure travellers, Nepal offers many UNESCO World Heritage Sites with stunning experiences while guests can unwind and recharge in the comfort of sophisticated spaces and warm hospitality of Marriott.”
