JAL Offers Special Meals On Flights To New York

Japan Airlines (JAL) will provide special in-flight meals and add a New York-dedicated audio programme on its nonstop flights from New York to Tokyo to celebrate 50 years of service to and from New York’s JFK International Airport, adding authenticity to the cultural exploration of business travellers flying between the two cities.

Special in-flight meal service, provided from September 1 to November 30, 2016, includes Japanese and western menu and selected wines and beer for First and Business Classes, and commemorative chocolate for Premium Economy and Economy Classes.

Featuring music and specially-selected episodes linked with New York, the special audio programme “JAL Special -We Love New York” will be on the airline’s MAGIC in-flight entertainment system in October and November, 2016. Customers can listen to well-known songs, such as “Autumn in New York” by Billie Holiday and “New York State of Mind” by Billy Joel, while tasting cuisine that highlights selected New York local ingredients.

JAL launched its New York service on November 12, 1966, with the DC-8 “SETO”. The inaugural outbound flight carried 58 invited guests, 52 passengers, and 8 flight attendants, from Tokyo to New York.

“Japan Airlines expresses its sincerest gratitude to all our customers and our numerous partners who have supported us and helped us achieve this milestone of 50 years of continuous service,” says Akira Kimura, senior vice president for the Americas, Japan Airlines. “The airline will continue to make every effort to provide our customers with unparalleled service with the aim of becoming the most preferred airline in the world.” http://www.jal.com/en/
