Hong Kong Airlines Launches New Amenity Kits

Business travellers flying Hong Kong Airlines will have a little surprise waiting for them next time they board.  The airline has announced a series of new amenity kits created in collaboration with four Hong Kong artists.

City Inspired

The four kits highlight the Harbour City’s vibrant culture and heritage with a range of eye-catching designs. Each kit has been designed by a different artist for a distinctive look.

As the founder of homegrown toy brand TinBot, Lok Lai has created a design that combines his brand’s unique toys with images of Hong Kong Airlines pilots, flight attendants, and Airbus A350 aircraft.

After inheriting over 5,000 Chinese calligraphy characters from his father’s late business partner, artist Lee Kin Ming decided to digitise the artistic scripts and develop the “Li Hon Kong Kai Font.” Named for the script’s original creator, the font now makes an appearance on the amenity bag designed by Lee Kin Ming. Lee’s bag features signboards and characters using the special font and represents a piece of Hong Kong’s cultural heritage.

A tribute to Hong Kong’s cultural icons, the Mandala motifs by Lily Cash incorporate recognisable symbols of the city. The amenity bag sports the Maan Sau Mou Geung “boundless longevity” pattern, the Cheung Chau lucky bun, and even an image of Bruce Lee.

The final design of the new amenity kit collection was created by Jane Lee. His highly imaginative and creative style is used to depict classic Hong Kong elements like its soaring skyline, milk tea and dim sum.

Packed with Perks

Each of the new kits also contain products that pay homage to Hong Kong. Items like eyeshades and cotton socks bear different motifs from the city, while French skincare brand L’Occitane rounds out the kits with its shea butter ultra-rich lip balm and hand cream.

The new amenity kits will be available on Hong Kong Airlines’ business class cabins on long-haul flights to North American destinations like Vancouver, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Hong Kong Airlines’ acting director of Service Delivery, Chris Birt, welcomed the collaboration saying: “As a strong advocate for Hong Kong art and culture, Hong Kong Airlines is delighted to incorporate the work of our local creative talents into our inflight products. Their designs are not only truly Hong Kong, but exude the love and pride they have for their art and home. As one of the Hong Kong carriers ourselves, we are proud to promote Hong Kong art and culture globally.”
