Gatwick Airport Launches GatwickConnects

Reduce your chances of missing that connecting flight next time you’re London bound with the new GatwickConnects booking service. The new service, a world-first, helps business travellers book flights across both full service and low cost carriers in a single transaction, while also helping reduce the risk of a missed connection if flights are re-scheduled or delayed.

Gatwick Airport has the the United Kingdom’s largest route network, serving 11 UK regional points and 190 international destinations. Around 1 million travellers per annum already access this network by connecting from low cost airlines to other low cost or full service airlines, but make separate bookings with no protection if a flight is re-scheduled or delayed.

“We are uniquely placed to offer a service like GatwickConnects, due to the breadth of our route network and our diverse short and long haul airline mix,” says Gatwick Airport CEO Stewart Wingate. “GatwickConnects is the latest example of the better standards, choice and competition travellers have enjoyed since BAA’s monopoly of airports was broken up. Gatwick remains the best and most deliverable option to deliver the runway that UK consumers need.”

GatwickConnects is the first time an airport has taken the lead to book and safeguard connections. Gatwick Airport already offers a GatwickConnects airside check-in service for connecting customers of participating airlines where travellers can drop their bags, to which is being added a range of services and hospitality benefits to, make passengers’ connecting time at Gatwick as enjoyable and hassle free as possible. Gatwick will also be offering even more exciting journey options in the coming year, with new services to the United States, Canada, Peru and Costa Rica, among others.

Passengers travelling with easyJet, Norwegian and WOW are able to use the service and booking with GatwickConnects also provides a host of other benefits including premium security access, a complimentary glass of wine, or a soft drink at the Caviar House; a Trace Me Luggage Tracker, and discounts off lounge access.

GatwickConnects routes can be found when booking through Skyscanner and Dohop. www.gatwickairport.com
