New Mid-Tier Hotel for Penang

Courtyard by Marriott has opened the Courtyard by Marriott Penang – the first Courtyard property in Malaysia.

Located along the bustling Jalan Macalister in the heart of Penang’s UNESCO-listed George Town, the new 199-room Courtyard by Marriott Penang is set to provide the best hotel experience so guests can pursue their personal and professional passions while on the road.

The new Penang hotel features rooms and suites designed to be smart and spacious, many featuring unobstructed views of Georgetown and the Straits of Malacca. Each room is fitted with thoughtful amenities and comes with high technology equipment and an ergonomic work area, perfect for business travellers.

Penang Kitchen, the hotel’s lively and chic all-day dining restaurant, serves a medley of mouthwatering creations inspired by the unique blend of local cultures – Malay, Nyonya, Chinese, Indian – and international cuisines with signature dishes such as Penang Laksa, Chef Ismail’s Chicken Rendang with Ginger Flower, Ox Tail Soup, Lamb Shank Biryani in Claypot, and more.

The Gin Library, slated to open in the last quarter of 2020, is the island’s first and only distillery-themed bar. Reimagined in the Anglo-Indian style, the bar’s design is inspired by the island’s unique heritage and style, featuring an eclectic mix of contemporary furniture with local elements and warm timber tones. True to the British colonial days, the Gin Library will be serving a collection of gin and malt whiskies and hand-crafted cocktails.

Additional facilities at the hotel include a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor infinity pool overlooking Penang Hill, and dynamic public spaces created to inspire guests to intuitively transition between work and moments of pause.

Courtyard by Marriott Penang also caters to various events’ needs with a pillarless ballroom that can accommodate up to 150 guests. The hotel features eight state-of-the-art meeting rooms and one VIP room, each fitted with the latest audio-visual equipment.

“We are thrilled to continue to grow our presence in Malaysia with the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Penang,” says Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding China), Marriott International. “Designed for today’s ambitious and enterprising traveller, the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Penang marks Marriott International’s 17th brand in Malaysia and further complements our growing footprint in the country.”
