Airline of the Year a Winner with Wine Lovers

Hong Kong-based carrier Cathay Pacific was recently named ‘Airline of the Year’ by Skytrax, and undoubtedly, its every-changing range of wines – currently numbering around 100 labels from France, Italy, South Africa, Australia, the United States, and New Zealand – played some part in that decision. Each wine served onboard is carefully selected in blind tastings conducted by a panel that includes expert wine consultants, and has been chosen for its ability to maintain its characteristics while in flight. A regular selection of wines are available in each cabin, while premium passengers – hose in First and Business Class – are often able to enjoy additional, specially selected wines.

Currently, First Class passengers are enjoying wines from Italy, Australia and France, including Marchesi de’Frescobaldi Mormoreto Toscana IGT 2010; Yangarra Estate Vineyard McLaren Vale Shiraz 2009; Louis Jadot Meursault 2011; Amour De Deutz Blanc de Blancs 2005; and Krug Grand Cuvée Champagne. Between July and December, First Class passengers will also be able to try six additional wines from Italy, including Umberto Cesari “Tauleto” Rubicone IGT 2008; Serafini & Vidotto Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOC 2008; La Velona Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2008; Salvano “Trabuch” Langhe Rosso DOC 2011; Marchesi d’Frescobaldi Mormoreto Toscana IGT 2010; and Marchesi Mazzei Castelli di Fonterutoli Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2010.

Business Class passengers can sample a selection of French Italy, New Zealand and French wines, with a selection that includes Morgon Chateau Des Jacques 2010; Clement VII Toscana 2008; Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2013; Billecart-Salmon Brut Champagne; and Champagne Deutz Brut Classic. Economy Class passengers can enjoy popular red and white wines, including Paul MAs Merlot 2011, and Eaglewood Falls Californian Chardonnay 2012.www.cathaypacific.com
