Cathay Debuts Revamped HK Lounge

Cathay Pacific has opened its revamped The Pier First Class lounge at Hong Kong International Airport.

Boasting seating for up to 231 guests, the refreshed 2,061sqm space is Cathay’s largest dedicated first class lounge.

The lounge features separate sections dedicated to different functions, including a library; an ‘office’ with six iMac workstations; a dining room for a la carte sit-down meals; a pantry for light bites; a bar; and a ‘retreat’ area with 14 showers, eight suites and three foot massage booths.

Described as a ‘contemporary apartment,’ The Pier now sports a design persona in line with the airline’s brand overhaul that was implemented last year, and matches the airline’s new lounges in Tokyo, Manila and Bangkok. The sectioned-off spaces contrasts with the more open-plan concept that most lounges boast.

Guests at the lounge can now enjoy complimentary massages before their flight. Cathay has partnered with Gentlemen’s Tonic, to provide a range of relaxing treatments, including a ten-minute cleansing foot soak, that can be accompanied by a neck, shoulder and scalp massage, or hand treatment. Guests can also take advantage of the 20-minute Gentlemen’s Tonic signature foot massage.

The 100-seat dining room offers a real gastronomic experience, serving three-course a la carte meals that include dishes like prawn salad with pomelo, glass noodles and hot and sour dressing; seared salmon with herb potatoes, green peas, asparagus and caper vinaigrette; and mango sticky rice.

The lounge is open from 0530 to the airline’s last departure, and is accessible to first class passengers, Marco Polo Club Diamond or Oneworld Emerald members. www.cathaypacific.com
