Carlson Rezidor Plans Expansion in China

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, whose brands include Radisson Blu, Radisson, Park Plaza, Country Inn & Suites by Carlson, and the Quorvus Collection, has revealed plans to triple its number of hotels in China to over 50 over the next four years.

“We have an over 20-year history in China and increasing out footprint in the country is an integral part of our growth strategy in Asia-Pacific,” said Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s president of Asia-Pacific, Thorsten Kirschke. “In addition to the 50 hotels we plan to have in operation by 2019, we are moving forward aggressively to grow our presence and expand our pipeline in China further to deliver an even stronger growth trajectory.”

Carlson Rezidor already has strong representation in key markets and secondary cities in China, including 14 hotels currently in operation, and a growing pipeline. It has just signed the 200-room Park Inn by Radisson Libo in the Guizhou province. The hotel is located at the entrance of Xiqikong National Park, close to the Daqikong karst site, which is part of the famous South China Karst UNESCO world heritage site. The hotel is scheduled to open in Q2, 2016.

The company plans to increase its presence in China in top-tier cities, strengthen its focus on development opportunities in emerging markets and introduce two new brands, Quorvus Collection, a curated set of luxury hotels, and Radisson Red, an upscale lifestyle brand.

Current members of the Quorvus Collection include: G&V Royal Mile Hotel Edinburgh, The Symphony Style Hotel Kuwait. The Mayfair Hotel in London will soon be added to the collection.

Radisson Red is an innovative hotel concept inspired by technology, design, art, music and fashion. It is designed to capture the millennial travellers, aged between 25 and 34, who are predicted to make up more than a third of Chinese tourists by 2019. www.carlsonrezidor.com
