Asia-Pacific Airlines Top World’s Best, Again

Two Asia Pacific airlines, Qantas and Singapore Airlines, are the only two carriers to be named in the top ten in the world across all four travel classes in a recent survey by AirlineRatings.com.

Both carriers were named among the top ten in First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy in the survey, which examined 450 airlines from around the world.

The world’s most luxurious airlines, which topped the charts for First Class, include Korean Air, Thai Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Etihad, which introduced its Residence apartment-style product two years ago, lifting the benchmark for first class globally.

The airlines named best in the competitive Business Class category by the site’s editorial team included Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Japan Airlines (JAL) and Qantas. Both Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia, which recently introduced a new business class product, were also named in the top ten, while, Air France also made the cut, despite a slow roll out of its latest generation of business class cabin.

The Premium Economy category is also fiercely competitive among airlines in the Asia-Pacific region, with Air New Zealand, Qantas, ANA, EVA and JAL all making the cut and joined by Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines, both market leaders for the increasingly popular premium economy product.

The airlines judged to have the best long-haul economy class products included Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways and Korean Air, as well as Air New Zealand, which was the first to offer the Sky Couch, on which passengers can book three economy class seats and lie length wise on long-haul flights.

The survey was conducted by AirlineRatings.com’s editorial team, which has collectively more than 150 years of airline industry experience, using an established seven-star rating system with strict criteria. Only full service airlines were included. www.airlineratings.com
