AirAsia to Expand Hat Yai Connections

Thai AirAsia will launch direct daily flights between Hat Yai and Chiang Rai – the biggest markets for border trade in the northern region of Thailand – as well as from Hat Yai to Johor Bahru in Malaysia, on April 1, 2016, providing more convenience for business travellers bound for the two countries.

“All of the routes have seen steady growth, which gives the airline an incentive to add even more connectivity,” says CEO of Thai AirAsia Tassapon Bijleveld. “We are confident the new flights will be as well received as their predecessors as Hat Yai is a one-of-a-kind city for both tourism and investment.”

The airline launched its first flight out of Hat Yai 12 years ago and today operates a variety of routes, including Hat Yai to Bangkok eight flights a day; Hat Yai to Chiang Mai two flights a day; Hat Yai to U-Tapao (Pattaya) four flights a week; and an AirAsia Malaysia (AK) flight from Hat Yai to Kuala Lumpur ten times per week. www.airasia.com
