A New Luxury Ryokan Opens in Tokyo

Hoshino Resorts has opened the capital’s first luxury ryokan, Hoshinoya Tokyo, situated in Otemachi, the economic centre of Japan. Hoshinoya Tokyo is uniquely created as a “Japanese Ryokan” reminiscent of a “Tower” imbued with the resort’s 100 years of expertise in the business.

Hoshinoya Tokyo represents a marriage of traditional Japanese architecture and contemporary lifestyle. Each floor of this 17-story tower is a singular ryokan with its own dedicated staff in place. Like a traditional ryokan, soft tatami matting is used not only in rooms but also throughout corridors and common spaces for relaxation.

Also, every ryokan has an ochanoma, a lounge that serves as an exclusive living and dining room for guests staying there. It contains a library and is furnished with desks and sofas, but its main role is to provide access to the best flavours and aromas that Japan has to offer at any time of the year. Teas, sakes, specialty coffees, and snacks are brought in from all over the country to enhance the season, as well as the time of day. http://hoshinoyatokyo.com
