United to Launch Direct Flights to Singapore

United Airlines will offer daily non-stop flights between San Francisco International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport from June 1, 2016. With the new service, business travellers will be able to save up to four hours’ journey time each way.

The new service will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which offers 48 flat-bed seats in its BusinessFirst class and 204 seats in Economy, including 88 Economy Plus seats with added legroom and increased personal space. BusinessFirst amenities include laptop power; USB ports; noise-reduction headsets; amenity kits with Soho House’s Cowshed skin-care products; and duvet-style blankets.

The flying times will be approximately 15 hours and 30 minutes eastbound and 16 hours and 20 minutes westbound. Flight UA1 will depart from San Francisco at 23:25, arriving in Singapore at 6:45 two days later. The return flight, UA2, will depart from Singapore’s Changi Airport at 8:45 and arrive in San Francisco at 9:15 the same day.

“We are very excited about introducing non-stop flights between San Francisco and Singapore,” says Marcel Fuchs, United’s vice president of Atlantic and Pacific sales. “This long-awaited service has been made possible by the newest version of our customer-pleasing Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and will offer unique benefits to customers travelling between our West Coast hub at San Francisco and Singapore. Customers arriving to San Francisco will have dozens of options to connect to other cities across the Americas.” www.united.com
