Under the Spotlight: Hotel Vagabond

Artistic, stylish and chic, Hotel Vagabond by Garcha Hotels has opened on Syed Alwi Road in Little India, Singapore. Hailed as the first experience-driven luxury boutique hotel in the country, this new urban retreat offers corporate travellers intriguing accommodation, top-notch services, as well as interactive entertainment.

Converted from a 1950 Art-Deco building, Hotel Vagabond is created by celebrated French designer Jacques Garcia, who made this house of slumber as much as a striking art museum. A marvel for the eyes, the hotel lobby features a variety of intoxicating artwork, including a solid brass rhino reception desk, which took eight months to forge at 15 villages in Rajasthan, India; a life-size elephant straddling the elevator, made in France by artist Franck Le Ray; and six golden brass banyan trees created by artisanal techniques.

The aesthetic appeal of this boutique hotel continues to its 42 beautifully-appointed rooms and suites, which are adorned with an array of mesmerizing photographs taken by Satinder Garcha – the owner of the hotel – during his travel. All rooms feature king sized beds with Egyptian cotton sheets and indulgent goose-down pillows; complimentary high-speed wifi; mahogany writing desks; luxurious Italian marble and glass mosaic bathrooms with Etro bath amenities; as well as minibars stocked with artisanal spirits. For extra work space, opt for a Junior Suite, which features high ceilings, skylights and an adjoining seating area, well-suited to small team gatherings.

Dressed in red velvet with a plethora of paintings and photographs gracing the walls, the theatre-style Vagabond Salon boasts 465sqm of flexible space that can accommodate up to 250 guests, as well as state-of-the-art acoustics, integrated AV facilities and double-sized sound proof curtains, perfect for business meetings and social events. Guests can also enjoy a range of modern Australian dishes from the kitchen of 5th Quarter – a collaboration between local entrepreneur Loh Lik Peng and award-winning executive chef Andrew Nocente – before sipping a glass of fine wine or a handcrafted cocktail at Bar Vagabond, conceptualized by renowned drinks collective Proof & Company.

Thanks to the Artist in Residence program – first of its kind in the country – business guests are allowed the chance to enjoy performances and mingle with different artists during nightly cocktail hours at the Vagabond Salon. Talented souls checked in include New York-based DJ Captain Planet, aka Charlie B. Wilder, and multimedia artist Julia Calfee.

Dedicated to immersing guests in luxury comforts, art and culinary indulgence, Hotel Vagabond breathes new life into the luxury hotel scene in Singapore and offers a one-of-a-kind sensational experience that will impress even the most discerning business travellers. http://hotelvagabondsingapore.com
