Sydney Airport Introduces New Improvements

Sydney Airport has commenced the next stage of improvements at its T1 International terminal to enhance the airport experience for business travellers.

The T1 improvements program, which started in January 2015, is set to deliver a better terminal experience, with more direct paths, clearer sightlines, improved wayfinding and more seating closer to gates. The terminal will be bigger and brighter thanks to new floor-to-ceiling glass windows and a raised glass roof, and feature new, contemporary retail and dining precincts. The Marketplace will showcase a selection of street food-style fare, while the City View precinct will feature The Bistro by Wolfgang Puck, Benny Burger by Shannon Bennett, and Kitchen by Mike.

The next stage of the improvements also include redeveloping gate lounges to streamline boarding processes and provide more comfortable areas for passengers to relax while waiting to board; making enhancement to the emigration and security entrance; and introducing new navigation signage throughout T1, allowing passengers to find their way to gates and airport services more easily.

“With the most improvement projects underway at the airport since the 2000 Sydney Olympics, we have worked tirelessly on the upgrade of T1 while ensuring minimal disruption for the 150,000 people who visit the airport every day,” says Sydney Airport managing director and CEO Kerrie Mather. “We are extremely proud of what we have achieved so far and with more upgrades planned in coming months, we look forward to delivering a world-class airport experience for everyone departing, visiting or arriving in Sydney.” www.sydneyairport.com.au
