Stamford Grand Adelaide Commits to Refurbishment

One of Adelaide’s most iconic hotels, the Stamford Grand Adelaide, has committed to the refurbishment of its 220 guest rooms and suites.

“The refurbishment would see a complete revitalisation of rooms to offer business travellers a world-class experience.” says newly appointed Stamford Grand Adelaide general manager Russell Cool.“This is a hugely exciting project for Stamford Grand Adelaide. The new look rooms will give a distinctly chic and modern feel, which will go hand in hand with the relaxed and stylish beachside culture of Glenelg and its surrounds. The upgrades include, but not limited to, new state-of-the-art technology and connectivity, lighting, carpets, and new bathrooms with walk in showers and baths. We have also updated our 1300sqm conference facilities with all new carpets, fresh paint and will be shortly installing more than $350,000 in audio visual infrastructure.”

Stage one of the project, which includes the completion of 187 rooms, is expected to be finished by Christmas this year with the remaining rooms and suites to be completed in the new year.

“The investment came on the back of a renewed interest from business travellers on Adelaide both nationally and internationally,” says Stamford Hotels & Resorts vice president of operations Karl Unterfrauner. “Adelaide has had the spotlight well and truly on it in the past few years in regards to travellers. People are starting to sit up and notice what an amazing city it is and what it has to offer. Obviously Glenelg is the jewel in Adelaide’s Crown so it is fitting that the only five-star hotel in the area gets the attention it deserves. This refurbishment will ensure the hotel remains at the top of the ladder in terms of its offering.”

The Stamford Grand Adelaide refurbishment comes off the back of its sister hotel, Stamford Plaza Adelaide’s recent refurbishment of 335 rooms valued at $7.7 million. Stamford Grand Adelaide management has also indicated that future upgrades, including public areas and food and beverage outlets, may be undertaken as early as 2016. www.stamford.com.au
