Shangri-La Hotel Opens in Doha

Shangri-La Hotel, Doha has opened in the commercial district of West Bay, offering business travellers a luxurious retreat with its signature blend of Asian and Arabian hospitality.

The 50-storey hotel, designed to resemble a falcon’s head in recognition of Qatari falconry – the country’s historic and elite pastime – is adorned with museum-quality art pieces honouring the rich heritage of the Qatari peninsula. Light-filled luxury accommodation includes 272 guest rooms and suites and 42 serviced apartments. All rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, warm earth tones, 47-inch wifi-enabled smart TVs, and Shangri-La’s signature mattresses. Complementing the chic interiors are spacious marble bathrooms fitted with premium toiletries, deep-soaking tubs, and walk-in showers.

The luxurious hotel captures the essence of international dining options with seven food and beverage outlets, including Sridan, which provides an interactive all-day dining experience; Fuego, the only restaurant in Doha to offer certified Argentine Kobe beef; and Yabby, which showcases the largest live seafood selection in the city. At a height of 162.3m above ground, Doha’s highest Chinese restaurant Shanghai Club, which will be opened later in the year, will serve authentic Cantonese cuisine; while The Den, a European-inspired piano lounge, is perfect for after-hours drinks.

The Horizon Club Lounge, located on level 42 of the hotel, boasts 360-degree panoramic vistas of the skyline and the glistening Arabian Gulf. Here in the private sanctuary, Horizon Club and suite guests can enjoy private check-in service, complimentary refreshments all day, as well as a host of exclusive privileges.

Business travellers will also be spoilt for choice thanks to a variety of leisure facilities, including an aquamarine lagoon-shaped pool and the Health Club, which offers a fully-equipped 24-hour fitness centre as well as sauna and steam rooms. A haven of relaxation can be found at CHI, The Spa, the first luxury Asian-themed spa in Doha. Boasting an outdoor hydrotonic pool and eight private treatment rooms, the spa blends Asian wellness traditions with botanical extracts, aromatic essential oils and natural Arabian elements to nourish the body and reinvigorate the senses.  www.shangri-la.com/doha/shangrila
