SAS Adds HK Direct

Scandinavian Airlines has launched direct flights between Stockholm and Hong Kong, the airline’s fourth direct connection between Scandinavia and Asia.

Hong Kong is one of the world’s busiest airports and is the largest in the world in terms of freight and business travel between the two regions and the new service will be operated five times a week, providing convenient connections to cities in Scandinavia and other major European hubs.

“We are writing a new chapter in the history of SAS,” says SAS president and CEO Rickard Gustafson. “We are very proud to be linking Stockholm and the rest of Scandinavia with Hong Kong through a convenient new connection.” Flights will depart Arlanda on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays on SK963 at 15:00, arriving in Hong Kong at 07:20 local time. Flights from Hong Kong will depart on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays on SK964 at 09:05 local time, arriving at Arlanda at 14:35.

The new service also coincides with the reopening of the airline’s lounge at Arlanda following an extensive refurbishment. The revamped lounge in Terminal 5 has two separate sections – one for EuroBonus Diamond and Gold members, including Star Alliance Gold, and one for those traveling in Business or SAS Plus. The lounge, which now covers an area of 1,400sqm, now offers a larger buffet area, new combined meeting rooms/guest offices, travel services, a new relaxation area, workstations, toilets and showers, as well as a play area for younger travelers. www.flysas.com
