Qantas Leads Lounge Revamps at LAX

Australian carrier Qantas is spearheading the expansion of lounges at Los Angeles’ International Airport.

Along with oneworld partner airlines Cathay Pacific and British Airways, Qantas has opened the revamped Los Angeles Business lounge after the final stages of refurbishment, which included the introducing of additional space and more dining options.

This latest refurbishment comes on the heels of the opening of the Qantas First Lounge next door, which was designed by Marc Newson and opened in December 2014.

“The completion of this project represents our significant investment in the US market,” said Qantas regional general manager for the Americas, Vanessa Hudson. “We have tripled the space available across both lounges, added more seating and installed a state-of-the-art kitchen. The new kitchen enables us to offer a bigger menu and a greater variety of dining options.”

“Customers tell us that being able to enjoy a relaxing and welcoming space with high-quality dining options prior to flying is top of their wish list when it comes to creating the ideal lounge experience,” added Hudson. “Together with Los Angeles International Airport’s renovations, Qantas now offers truly world-class facilities for international travellers and our lounges in the US are second to none.”

The improved lounge offers an array of additional features, including service by Sofitel, a communal fireplace and a central glass atrium, along with tripled floor space (measuring a total of 42,000sqft), an additional 200 seats, and seven new shower suites (which now total 16), all of which feature Aurora Spa ASPAR amenities.

Passengers will also be treated to quality food and beverage experiences with a cocktail bar offering signature tipples and barista-made coffes; a Californian food truck serving tacos and speciality hot dogs; two buffets featuring a make-your-own-juice bar, hot meals, fresh salads, snacks and desserts; menus by Qantas chef Niel Perry; and a dedicated dining area anchored by a large communal dining table fitted with USB and power outlets.

Six workstations equipped with Apple iMacs ensure that business travellers will be able to effectively stay connected to their office and take care of work.

The remodelled Los Angeles Business lounge is open to business class passengers travelling on Qantas, Cathay Pacific and British Airways flights; Gold Qantas Frequent Flyers, Gold Marco Polo Club members and Silver Executive Club members; as well as Sapphire oneworld members and Qantas Club members. www.qantas.com
