Oaks Heads to Australia’s Northern Territory

Oaks Hotels & Resorts, part of the Minor Hotel Group, will make its debut in Australia’s Northern Territory later this year, with the brand acquiring the existing Elan Soho Suites and subjecting it to a full rebrand.

Elan Soho Suites, which was completed just last year, will be rebranded under the Oaks Hotels & Resorts banner, and will officially launch on September 1, 2015. The hotel will be the 52nd property for the company.

Located on Woods Street, in the heart of the Darwin CBD, the Oaks Elan Darwin will offer 301 guest rooms, studios and one and two-bedroom apartments over 27 floors.

Contemporary and spacious, the apartments will feature well-appointed kitchenettes fitted with modern appliances, cooktops, refrigerators, microwaves and dishwashers, along with laundries, expansive balconies, sizeable workspaces, WiFi, and Foxtel cable channels.

The acquisition also includes the onsite restaurant, Seoul Food, a unique dining concept featuring fusion Korean cuisine, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Other facilities at the property include a fully-equipped gym, an outdoor pool, and a dedicated events and conference space on the mezzanine floor, which offers six event spaces catering for between 250 and 410 guests in banquet, theatre or cocktail-style settings.

“As part of our business expansion strategy both in Australia and abroad, we have been focused on accumulating quality assets in a number of regional locations alongside extending our portfolio of management properties in both city and resort destinations, said Minor Hotel Group’s CEO, Dillip Rajakarier. “Darwin has always been on our wish list and we are thrilled that Minor Hotel Group will now be represented in the Northern Territory.” www.oakshotelsresorts.com
