New Shangri-La for Mongolia

The Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar will get a new business-orientated luxury property on June 3, 2015, with the opening of Shangri-La Hotel, Ulaanbaatar.

The well-positioned hotel is connected to Ulaanbataar’s mixed-used development, the Shangri-La Centre; set to debut in 2016, the 28-floor centre features exclusive apartments, four floors of retail and 19 floors of upscale commercial space. The complex, and the new hotel, are within easy distance of key locations such as Government House and Great Chinggis Khan Square.

Overlooking Nayramdal Park to the south or the Great Chinggis Khan Square to the north, the hotel’s 290 guest rooms are among the city’s largest, starting from 42sqm. Each room is well-appointed with an executive desk, marble bathroom, a window-adjascent sitting area, and complimentary WiFi.

Business travellers will appreciate the high level of personalised service of the hotel’s Horizon Club rooms and lounge. Guests enjoying access to the Horizon Club Lounge enjoy express check-in and check-out, complimentary breakfast, all-day beverages, cocktails and canapes in the evening, and the use of a meeting room.

Dining options at the Shangri-La Hotel, Ulaanbaatar include the all-day dining option Cafe Park, which offers multiple cooking stations where diners can experience a multicultural feast and signature dishes. Naadam, named after Mongolia’s largest summer sporting festival, is a pub-style bar and grill featuring western food, music and entertainment. The final option, Hutong, is set to open in August and will serve a variety of Chinese cuisine, including Peking duck, clay pot stews, and authentic northern Chinese dishes.

The hotel also features 2,643sqm of meeting space that is ideal for hosting business-related events like conferences and meetings. In all, there are eight meeting rooms, including the 1,300sqm pillar-free Grand Ballroom, which is capable of accommodating more than 800 guests.

Finally, a fully-equipped Health Club allows guests to unwind after hours with a gym, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and massage options. www.shangri-la.com
