Mercure Hotel Opens in Shanghai

AccorHotels has opened the Mercure Shanghai Royalton, the eighth property of its Mercure brand in China. Located in the Hongqiao business and shopping district in Shanghai, just a 20-minute drive from Hongqiao Airport, the new hotel provides business travellers with a convenient base from which to explore the city.

“Mercure Shanghai Royalton is a fantastic addition to the Mercure brand, a global network of hotels that fuses international hotel standards with authentic local culture to provide an unparalleled hotel experience,” says Paul Richardson, chief operating officer, AccorHotels Greater China. “Shanghai is one of the world’s most exciting destinations, and with its central location, it offers the best accommodation, dining experience and meeting facilities in its segment.”

The Mercure Shanghai Royalton features 239 contemporary guest rooms and suites, six meeting rooms accommodating up to 200 people, with state-of-the-art conferencing technology; and a fitness centre for guests to let off steam during their stay.

The new hotel also provides a wide range of international and local dining options. The hotel’s Lobby Lounge Bar is stocked with a host of international beverage choices. Fuji Restaurant offers an authentic Japanese dining experience with ingredients imported from Japan, while the unique, cellar-like ambience of the Grand Bodega Spanish Restaurant offers a wide range of traditional Spanish dishes. R Kitchen, the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, employs some of the best chefs from the local area, cooking up authentic Cantonese and Shanghainese dishes. www.mercure.com
