Lufthansa to Operate A380 on Hong Kong-Frankfurt Route

German carrier Lufthansa will begin operating an A380 aircraft between Hong Kong and Frankfurt from 24 October, 2015.

“I’m very pleased to announce that we are bringing our A380 to Hong Kong late this fall,” said Lufthansa’s general manager for Hong Kong, South China and Macau, Malte Haut. “It’s a new milestone in the history of Lufthansa in Hong Kong, especially since Lufthansa has been connecting Hong Kong and Europe for more than 50 years. Also this is certainly a remarkable moment for Lufthansa’s longstanding presence throughout Asia. Hong Kong is one of Lufthansa’s key international markets and hence, Lufthansa will continue to invest in this important hub. With the deployment of our A380 into this market, it increases more than 20 percent capacity from Hong Kong to Europe.”

Lufthansa’s A380 has 509 seats over a double-decker layout, and features the widest main deck cabin of any airliner in service today. The aircraft is equipped with Lufthansa’ newest four cabin products: First Class, which provides a refreshing cabin environment with an air humidification system; Business Class seats which convert into 2-metre, 180-degree fully-flat beds; the new Premium Economy, which offers 50 percent more space and twice the baggage allowance of Economy Class; and ergonomic Economy Class seats which provide more personal space. Lufthansa’s Flynet WiFi service will be available in all cabins.

Lufthansa will operate its new A380 service from Hong Kong on seven weekly flights. www.lufthansa.com
