Lufthansa Brings Restaurant Service to the Skies

Passengers travelling in Lufthansa Business Class can now enjoy a completely new meal service on long-haul flights.

The new F&B offering by the German airline will see flight attendants adapting their service to suit the rhythm of their passengers in order to individually respond to their guests’ needs and requests, just like in a fine-dining restaurant.

After flight attendants have welcomed guests on board in person and by name, they will take orders and set tables with ceramic crockery. Meals are then served directly from the galley, with trays and trolleys being replaced by service plates.

The service was introduced aboard A380 flights to New York and Miami in June and July, and will now be rolled out across A380 services to Houston, Johannesburg, Los Angeles, Miami, Delhi, New York, Beijing, San Francisco, Shanghai, Seoul and Singapore.

Later in the year, the new service will also be introduced aboard Beoing 747-400 and Airbus A340 flights.

Special service training courses for around 4500 flight attendants have already been running since May this year. The approximately 130 flights on which the new concept has already been tested received an extremely positive response from Business Class guests. www.lufthansa.com
