KLM Introduces World Business Class

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will begin flying its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner this autumn, with its all-new World Business Class seats aboard.

Set to take to the skies in October, KLM’s new World Business Class seats can be extended into a fully-flat bed, and are arranged in a 1-2-1 layout that offers all passengers extra privacy and direct aisle access. The airline has confirmed that each seat will feature a large side storage area and 16-inch HD video screens, but further details have yet to be released.

However, KLN has taken design cues for its new business class product from the same Zodiac Cirrus platform seen in the business class cabins of Air France and Cathay Pacific. While KLM’s version sees the seat rendered in the airline’s warm base colours and comes with large pillow and blankets for sleeping, the product will be recognisable to frequent business travellers.

“The Boeing 787-9 enables KLM to offer passengers even more comfort and privacy,” said the airline’s CEO, Pieter Elbers. “KLM has chosen to add specific improvements to this special aircraft, which make it unique among other 787s. All these details add up to ensure our passengers can experience a new way to fly.”

KLM’s new Dreamliner will feature 30 seats in its business class cabin. Guests travelling in the cabin will also be able to enjoy KLM’s first inflight internet service, which has recently been trialled on the airline’s other aircraft.

KLM’s Dreamliner will make its inaugural flight on October 25 from Amsterdam to Abu Dhabi, and on to Bahrain. In November, the aircraft will begin flights to Cairon and Xiamen; flights to Fukuoka, Rio de Janeiro, Chengdu, Tokyo and Shangahi are slated to begin in the first half of 2016. www.klm.com
