Grand Hyatt Opens in Chengdu

Hyatt Hotels has opened Grand Hyatt Chengdu in the capital of Sichuan province in Southwest China. With a mere 30-minute drive from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, this luxurious hotel offers corporate travellers a convenient hideaway as well as high-end services.

Spanning floors ten to 39 of the Chicony Square, Grand Hyatt Chengdu is situated on the historic Chunxi Road in the heart of Jinjiang district – arguably the city’s most vibrant commercial and entertainment area. Designed by New York-based, multi award-winning Tony Chi & Associates, the hotel houses 390 contemporary guest rooms, all providing panoramic views of downtown Chengdu through floor-to-ceiling windows. Creating a relaxing ambience, each room is furnished with an abundance of natural woods, accompanied by Chinese touches, ranging from ceramic horse lamp bases to ink-brush paintings of monkeys and goldfish.

“We are glad Hyatt is now part of Chengdu’s vibrant and aspiring legacy,” says Christopher Koehler, vice president and managing director of operations for China, Hyatt. “The opening of Grand Hyatt Chengdu is a significant step forward in developing Hyatt brands in key gateway cities where our guests are traveling. We look forward to welcoming guests from all over the world to create memorable experiences.”

Grand Hyatt Chengdu is home to seven inspiring bars and restaurants. Salon is a serene and convivial “living room”, where guests can enjoy a high level of intimacy and comfort as well as a choice of Chinese and Western flavours; while Grand Café features a lively show kitchen and a variety of Sichuan cuisine. Other culinary spots include Nougat, an alluring patisserie; Xi·Mi, which offers refreshing cocktails with live music; an Asian-style BBQ restaurant; No.8, an authentic Sichuan eatery specializing in the region’s famous hot pot; and the Steak House.

With more than 2,973sqm of event space, the hotel is striving to be the capital’s preeminent event venue. The 712sqm Palais ballroom features high ceilings and dazzling angled mirror panels, and it is currently the only ballroom in the city center with a fully equipped lighting system. Complementing Palais is the French Garden, a 1,347sqm Versailles-style terrace perfect for outdoor events, and five separate private rooms with own bathrooms.

On the 13th floor, guests will discover a range of facilities where they can exercise, relax and rejuvenate. The Fitness Centre is equipped with the latest exercise machines, while a huge wood-lined skylight provides natural daylight to the heated swimming pool and whirlpool. Spa-goers can indulge themselves in the Huan Spa, which features five private spa suites, steam rooms and saunas. http://chengdu.grand.hyatt.com
