Changes for Qantas’ Australia-LAX Routes

Qantas will reduce is Australian services to Los Angeles beginning in December.

The Australian carrier currently operates a twice-daily Sydney-LAX service. From December 18, it will axe flights QF17/18 on Mondays and Thursdays; two further flights, which currently operate on Wednesdays and Fridays, will be dropped on January 23, 2016.

From January 23, Qantas will fly a daily A380 service – QF11/12 – between Sydney and LAX, and a three-times weekly QF17/18, which will operate on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Qantas will also be altering its operations on its Melbourne-LAX route.

Currently, Qantas operates a ten-times weekly service between the two cities, with a daily A380 service and a three-times weekly B747 service.

From January 27, Qantas will drop its outbound Sunday B747 flight, along with its Friday B747 service from Los Angeles.

The changes are a result of an expansion of a joint business agreement between Qantas and American Airlines. www.qantas.com
