Member of the oneworld alliance, Cathay Pacific, and Star Alliance member carrier, Air Canada, will introduce codeshare services next month.
The new collaboration will include reciprocal mileage accruement and redemption benefits, providing the two airlines’ customers more connectivity and benefits when travelling between Canadian cities and Southeast Asia.
Cathay Pacific and Air Canada customers will be able to book travel to their final destination on a single ticket with through-checked bags starting next month, as Cathay Pacific will place its code on Air Canada flights to all major cities across Canada, including Victoria, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec.
Air Canada will offer codeshare services to an additional eight cities in Southeast Asia, on flights operated by Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon connecting with Air Canada’s double daily services to Hong Kong from Toronto and Vancouver. The airline will place its code on Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon’s flights, including Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Bangkok.
Cathay Pacific currently operates double daily flights to Vancouver from Hong Kong using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Three extra weekly services, operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, will be added to this flight schedule beginning March 28, 2017, bringing the total number of flights to the Canadian city to 17 per week.
Air Canada operates daily non-stop flights year-round from both Toronto and Vancouver to Hong Kong. Flights from Toronto are operated with Boeing 777-200ER and flights from Vancouver with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
When travelling on these services, members of Aisa Miles and Aeroplan, Air Canada’s loyalty programme, will be eligible to earn and redeem miles on the listed codeshare routes.
