ANA Offers New “Tastes of Japan” Dishes

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has introduced the next stage of its ongoing “Tastes of Japan” campaign. Launched in September 2013, the project aims to highlight Japan’s lesser-known prefectures by offering exclusive regional dishes onboard its flights.

The latest dishes draw from the cuisine of Toyama, Nara and Fukuoka and will be offered on ANA flights between June and August 2015.

When dining at the ANA Suite Lounge at Tokyo Haneda’s international terminal in July, travellers will be able to sample a dry curry of summer vegetables harvested in Toyama. The dish incorporates a mix of Worcester sauce and white sesame which create a spicy flavour. On board, guests can try scallop, ham and vegetables simmered in cream and wraped in crepe with Hokuriku wine sauce, and white shrimp crackers.

Guests of the ANA Suite Lounges at Tokyo Haneda and Narita’s international terminals will be able to sample eclairs made with Nara’s Asuka Ruby strawberry jam. Passengers will also be able to enjoy sauteed sea bass and chorizo with Himotgarashi pepper grown in Nara with balsamic apple vinaigrette, and sirloin steak of Japanese black beef grown in Nara.

Finally, business class customers travelling on international flights will be able to enjoy a meal of Fukuoka’s local cuisine. The meal starts with the Okyuto appetiser – a regional seaweed noodle dish – and moves onto a main course of steamed golden threadfin bream, a local delicacy. Other offerings include Hakata best fried chicken, foie gras and scallop galantine with tuna and apple salad on egg, and spicy cod roe rice with tea. www.ana.co.jp
