As global travel restrictions are slowly eased, Etihad Airways has confirmed plans to operate a regularly scheduled service between Melbourne and London Heathrow via Abu Dhabi this month.
The airline will launch flights between Melbourne and London Heathrow via Abu Dhabi on May 15, with the return journey from London to Melbourne via Abu Dhabi planned for May 21.
In April, the airline had pledged to operate a reduced network of scheduled passenger services through May and June, if UAE-government imposed travel restrictions were lifted.
It is the intension of the Abu Dhabi-based airline to maintain this scheduled service until it fully resumes its previous double daily connection between the two cities. Flights will feature two classes – Business and Economy.
Customers wishing to travel on the limited Etihad Melbourne – London flights are strongly advised to check current entry regulations for both the United Kingdom and Australia before they purchase the ticket and should bear in mind that the situation could change at any moment.
Other Middle Eastern airlines have also made tentative steps towards expanded schedules. Qatar Airways recently announced plans to begin a phased approach to expanding its network in line with passenger demand evolution and the expected relaxation of entry restrictions around the world.
Having maintained flights to at least 30 destinations where possible during this crisis and to most continents, the airline has closely monitored global passenger flows and booking trends and is confidently planning the gradual reintroduction of additional flights and destinations to its network.
