Summary: The Blacklane PASS service lets travellers traverse airports at light speed
4good

Getting through the airport can be rough, especially when you’re laden with bags and an imminent business meeting weighs heavily on your mind. For those business travellers seeking simplicity, comfort and an assurance that things will run smoothly, the Blacklane PASS service provides customers with a truly VIP travel experience, no holds barred.

We booked our PASS service through a dedicated Blacklane PASS app, which recorded our contact and arrival details and connected us with a personal concierge whose task it would be to navigate us through the airport arrival process. A confirmation email arrived the day before we flew from Hong Kong to Toronto via Seoul, identifying the representative, and confirming that they had also been advised that we had booked a Blacklane airport transfer (read more about that experience here). While the two products are separate, they are linked to create a seamless arrival or departure experience for guests who have booked both services, with concierge and driver liaising on your behalf.

The Pass

We’ve talked about Blacklane PASS before. The service offers packages for both arrivals and departures and includes the personal concierge who will greet you at your limo or arrival gate, help with your bags, and either escort you to transport options or check you in at a luxury airport lounge, no matter what class you’re flying in. The concierge service also fast tracks travellers through security and immigration processes, while guests can also take advantage of a series of exclusive discounts on duty-free items provided by Blacklane.

The Meet

Our concierge – a charming Filipino woman – was waiting for us at the end of the airbridge as we disembarked our flight from Seoul and whisked us away so quickly we didn’t have a chance to catch her name. While she was very engaging, she didn’t seem to know the airport well and had us lining up at the wrong lines in immigration (insisting that the officials would be fine with it) before we were advised by officers to join a different line.

Once we had collected our luggage from the carousel, we made our way to the exits as the concierge contacted the driver to find out his exact location. However, rather than advise the driver which exit we were close to, she decided to bring us to him, which resulted in a very long walk virtually the length of the airport, to where our driver was parked. Again, it seemed that she was quite unfamiliar with the airport, although she seemed to know many of the staff working there.

Summary

While this was a relatively simple transfer, had we had issues or needed to secure a local SIM or track down baggage, it’s clear that having a little extra assistance would have been a lifesaver.

The Blacklane PASS is available from US$200 per person, with an additional US$50 for lounge access per passenger.
