InterCon HK Showcases Cachaça Cocktails

This autumn business travellers can quench their thirst in InterContinental Hong Kong‘s iconic Lobby Lounge with innovative cocktails made with artisanal Yaguara Cachaça from Brazil.

The hotel’s Resident Mixologist, Sabrina Cantini-Budden, continues the hotel’s fascinating cocktail series, which showcases unique spirits from artisanal distilleries around the world, with a menu of concoctions laced with Brazilian Cachaça, available throughout October and November.

Five generations of know-how goes into the making artisanal organic Cachaça, incorporating a triple filtered process that uses the juiciest and best part of the sugar cane, perfectly blended for a refined taste. Cantini-Budden has chosen to use artisanal Yaguara Cachaça in her drinks; a small-batch artisanal cachaça produced by the fifth generation of distillers, Yaguara retains the distinctive flavour of Cachaça yet delivers a smoother, more refined and balanced spirit thanks to a signature blending process.

InterContinental Hong Kong’s in-house mixologist Sabrina Cantini Budden has incorporated all of the Yaguara blends into her innovative cocktails, each with a unique texture from the Cachaça. These include Yahuara Blue, an organic artisanal blend of 10-month rested Cachaça using the Meneghel family recipe which includes ageing it in European Oak barrels for 5-6 years; Yaguara Ouro, the brand’s first expression of aged Cachaça, made with a blend of two native woods – cabreúva and amburana – together with American oak; and Yaguara Branca, a classic small-batch white Cachaça that has been rested for 8 months.

Cocktails on the new menu include the Martinha, a martini-style drink that combines all three Cachaça varieties with sweet vermouth and Angostura bitters; and The Golden Land, a blend of Yaguara Blue, fresh lime juice, green Chartreuse, coriander syrup, pineapple juice, grapefruit bitters and beetroot.
