For business travellers who are constantly on the road, one of the worst things that could happen is losing your wallet. Now, that won’t be an issue with the line of sleek smart wallets created by America-based Volterman.
The idea of Volterman began when the company’s chief technical officer lost his wallet – his three-year-old daughter decided to keep it safe by putting it behind the fridge – and he decided that in the 21st century, lost wallets shouldn’t be a thing. It took several years of development – and an Indiegogo campaign that raised over US$2 million – but now, Volterman’s smart wallets are beginning to make their way to customers.
When travelling, it’s all too easy to forget your wallet in your hotel room or accidentally leave it in a taxi, but with Volterman, you’ll have a much higher chance of getting it back. Each wallet features built-in worldwide GPS that tracks your wallet on your phone, as well as a Bluetooth alarm system that notifies you if you leave your wallet (or synced phone) somewhere. If you do misplace it and can’t track it down, you’ll even know exactly who has your wallet – when it’s opened, a thief detector camera that’s sewn into the wallet’s inner face will take a photo and send it to your phone.
Business travellers will especially appreciate the wallet’s ability to keep them connected while on the road. As well as being impossibly thin and light, a built-in powerbank charges phones wirelessly or wired, and a global wifi hotspot provides data roaming at nearly three times less than your average service provider.
Best of all, these high-tech smart wallets are sleek and stylish, so they won’t embarrass you in front of company big-wigs or important clients. The wallets are made of real leather – though a vegan faux leather option is available, too – and are produced in black or brown with colour-matched exposed stitching. Another bonus? These durable wallets will handle life on the road like pros since they’re also impact resistant, waterproof and RFID protected.
Volterman currently has three wallets in its collection. The traditional bifold has two pockets and space for six cards; the travel wallet has plenty of space for passports, boarding passes, cards and cash; and the minimalist cardholder has just enough space for two cards and some cash.
