United Adds Polaris & Premium Plus to HK-NY Route

United Airlines has upgraded its product and service on its Hong Kong and New York/Newark route, with customers now able to enjoy United’s recently-unveiled United Premium Plus and United Polaris seats and service on its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, starting April 1, 2019.

With the introduction of the new Boeing 777-300ER, United will offer its acclaimed United Polaris seats on the nonstop service between Hong Kong – New York/Newark. The seats, which were introduced on the Hong Kong-San Francisco route in March 2017, were designed after 12,000 hours of research to offer customers the best sleep at 35,000 feet. The custom-designed seats reimagined comfort with fully customizable recline and foot-rest options, expansive storage to store just about everything within easy reach, and its uncompromising electronic privacy divider with a “do not disturb” option.

Customers travelling in United Polaris business class (check out our recent review here) between Hong Kong and the U.S. can relax and dine in United Polaris lounges at New York/Newark Liberty International Airport, Chicago O’Hare Airport and San Francisco Airport.

The brand-new United Premium Plus will also be available on United’s 777-300ER aircraft. Customers travelling with United Premium Plus will enjoy additional legroom, elbow room and recline compared to United Economy Plus and United Economy seats, as well as upgraded dining options on custom dinnerware with complimentary alcoholic beverages. Customers will also receive upgraded amenities including a Saks Fifth Avenue blanket and plush pillow, and noise-reducing headphones to enjoy entertainment on the larger seatback screens undisturbed. The enhanced travel experience starts even before entering the aircraft, with complimentary standard checked bags, as well as discounted United Club access, Premier Access check-in and priority boarding.

The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft features 60 seats (above) in business class, in a 1-2-1 configuration with direct-aisle access from all seats; 24 United Premium Plus seats (below); 62 United Economy Plus seats; and 204 United Economy seats.

“Hong Kong has always been one of the most important international markets for United Airlines in Asia-Pacific,” says Walter Dias, United’s managing director, Greater China and Korea, Sales. “We proudly launched the first-ever non-stop service between Hong Kong and New York City in 2001, and we are delighted to enhance our offering in the market with a product and service upgrade for travellers from Hong Kong to our popular New York hub. Customers, now more than ever, have the opportunity to choose their preferred flight experience. This product refresh is clear evidence of our long-term commitment to the promising Hong Kong market, as well as in response to the growing travel demand among business and high-end leisure travellers.”
