With a new restaurant, themed rooms and Rock Star Suites, as well as enhancements to the guest experience, Hong Kong Island’s Southside by Ovolo has reopened.

Positioned by the brand, which also operates Ovolo Central, as more of a revolution than a rebranding, the new-look Southside by Ovolo is designed to elevate the guest experience, offering a unique blend of designer luxury, comfort, and distinctive design.

A member of Design Hotels and Hong Kong’s first warehouse-converted hotel, this quintessential designer hotel is nestled in the heart of the vibrant cultural district of Wong Chuk Hang on the south side of Hong Kong Island.

New additions include a series of exciting Rock Star Suites, a homage to music’s legendary figures, such as Freddie Mercury and John Lennon (at top). These designer suites, overlooking the picturesque south-side beaches and mountains, feature a built-in bar, custom artworks, and breathtaking views of the South Island, providing a perfect sanctuary for guests seeking both work and play.

Complementing the Rock Star Suites is the introduction of Flat Iron Deluxe, a premium steakhouse that promises to delight with its focus on the Flat Iron beef cut, known for its exceptional tenderness and flavour. The restaurant offers not only top-quality steaks but arguably one of the best club sandwiches in Hong Kong, as well as weekend brunches, and cooking classes.

The public spaces and arrival experience has also been reimagined, with the reception now located on the original third floor, providing a more welcoming and seamless check-in process in an inviting and comfortable environment. There has also been the introduction of the Wonder Bar in the lounge alongside a pool table and bar. This unique concept allows guests to purchase curated items for their rooms, enhancing the overall comfort and convenience of the stay with a twist.

Southside also has numerous and versatile event spaces for every occasion, including G.i.G. (below), a large format multi-purpose space that can be used for product launches, gala dinners, seminars and more; Above rooftop (at bottom), overlooking the scenic views of Hong Kong’s south, which offers an indoor-outdoor option for more intimate cocktail events, dinners and meetings; and The Terrace for outdoor events.

Southside by Ovolo has also introduced the Ovolo Standard and Essentials for direct bookings. The Ovolo Standard is a promise that gives guests freedom and flexibility from the outset, with an up to 15% discount on top of a price match guarantee, flexible cancellations and check-in/check-out times, and a complimentary drink at the property’s Apero Hour.
