Korean Air has added a luggage tracking feature to its Skypass mobile app, allowing members to keep tabs of their checked luggage as it’s loaded onto their flight.
The new service, which is available to Skypass members who have enabled push notifications on their Korean Air app, sends travellers a message once their bag is safely aboard their aircraft. By linking with the Baggage Handling System (BHS) at the airport, flyers can monitor their bag’s progress from check-in to aircraft, where the Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS) confirms it’s arrival. While no tracking system is infallible, this should set the minds of busy business travellers at ease as they prepare for a long-haul journey, safe in the knowledge that their baggage is travelling with them.
Skypass is the loyalty program of Korean Air, a member of the SkyTeam alliance, and allows travellers to earn points when they travel, with rewards including lounge access, preferential boarding and seating, and reward flights and upgrades.
Presently the new feature is available for all international flights departing Incheon International Airport, with the airline planning to roll the feature out to other hubs around the world.
