Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Unveils New Grand Ballroom and Function Rooms

Upon completion of a four-month long, multi-million dollar refurbishment project, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur has re-opened its Grand Ballroom and function rooms, offering a variety of venue options for meetings and corporate events.

Located across three floors of the hotel, the newly upgraded event spaces are ideal for hosting national and international conventions, social and corporate events, with the Grand Ballroom and function rooms re-designed by Hong Kong-based LRF Designers Limited, to be tailor-made to cater for grand events as well as small, intimate activities.

The newly refurbished Grand Ballroom, furnished with the latest cutting-edge technology, is located on Level Basement 2, and totals 1,509sqm of space for accommodation for up to 1,800 guests in various settings. The pillar-less venue features high ceilings with three chandeliers, a grand elevated stage, and flexible partitioning systems; and is fitted with state-of-the-art technology including advanced audio-visual and communication systems, sophisticated lighting systems, large high definition LED screens and complimentary wifi connection.

There are 13 new function rooms featuring grand and contemporary décor, which are named after the different states in Malaysia. The size of the event spaces range from 45sqm to 905sqm, all of which are equipped with audio-visual and communication systems, advanced lighting systems, and complimentary wifi connection.

The Lower Lobby has been completely re-designed and equipped with multi-purpose partitioning systems, allowing for use as a large foyer or exhibition space. It also features multiple choices of individual function rooms, catering to a variety of needs and requirements.

The Junior Ballroom is made up of four combined function rooms, which can seat a maximum of 400 guests in a banquet setting, while the Grand Johor room, formed by a combination of six function rooms, can seat up to 340 guests in a banquet setting.

For more private or intimate events, guests can accommodate the smaller function rooms, which can host an average of 100 to 200 guests in a banquet setting.
