Qatar to Resume Shanghai Flights

Qatar Airways significantly expands operations in the Greater China region with the resumption of its Shanghai service.

The Qatar-based airline has reintroduced its Shanghai to its global network of 150 destinations while increasing flights to Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Hong Kong to meet travel demand.

Qatar Airways’ partnerships with China Southern Airlines and Cathay Pacific will also provide passengers with enhanced connectivity to and from nine Chinese cities

Qatar Airways has significantly expanded its operations in the Greater China region with once-weekly service between Doha and Shanghai Pudong, which resumed  in January utilising its state-of-the-art Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which features 24 Business Class seats and 388 Economy Class seats. The National Carrier of the State of Qatar has also increased its Hangzhou service to twice-weekly flights since December, further meeting overseas Chinese and international visitors’ travel demands in 2023.

The highly anticipated Shanghai passenger service reaffirms the award-winning airline’s unwavering commitment to the Greater China region by expanding its presence in the market to four gateways. Qatar Airways is also significantly boosting its growing network in the Greater Bay Area, with Hong Kong service increased to 11 weekly frequencies since January 16, 2023 and Guangzhou service sets to expand to four weekly flights starting from February 15, 2023, offering an exclusive world-class experience and enhanced connectivity to local customers.

Qatar Airways’ existing codeshare and interlining partnerships with China Southern Airlines and Cathay Pacific, two of the largest carriers in Asia, will also allow passengers to enjoy an elevated customer experience, more frequent flyer benefits and enhanced travel options to and from nine domestic cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Fuzhou, Xiamen and Hangzhou, subject to Covid-19 restrictions and regulatory approvals.
