Qatar Airways has topped The World’s Best Airline at the Skytrax 2017 World Airline Awards, followed by Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Emirates, Cathay Pacific, EVA Air, Lufthansa, Etihad Airways, Hainan Airlines, and Garuda Indonesia.
Voted best airline by travellers across the world in the annual passenger survey, the Doha-based carrier has gone from its second-place in 2016 to the first this year, winning the Airline of the Year title for a fourth time. Qatar Airways, which has recently launched the industry’s first-ever double-bed in Business Class with Qsuite and has just added Dublin, Ireland to its global route network, has also received major awards for the World’s Best Business Class, the World’s Best First Class Lounge, and as the Best Airline in the Middle East.
Singapore Airlines, awarded third-place in 2016, has earned a number two ranking in the world in 2017, and has been awarded the Best Airline in Asia, the World’s Best Business Class Airline Seats, and the Best Premium Economy Class Airline Catering.
Japan’s largest airline carrier, All Nippon Airways, has moved two places up to the third this year. Dubai-based airline Emirates, which topped the list last year, has received a fourth-place this year. Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific has gone from the fourth place in 2016 to the fifth this year.
The World Airline Awards’ survey enables any airline in the world to be nominated, allowing travellers to make their own choice, underlining the brand as the Passenger’s Choice Awards. This year the survey covered over 325 airlines, from largest international airlines to smaller domestic carriers, measuring quality standards for 41 key performance indicators across front-line product and service factors in the Airport and Onboard environments.
