Qatar Airways Increases Hong Kong Flights to Pre-Pandemic Levels

Award-winning airline Qatar Airways is increasing flights to Hong Kong for the second time this year, returning frequency to pre-pandemic levels.

Qatar Airways has increased the number of flights to Hong Kong from 11 to 14 per week. The addition of flights to Hong Kong demonstrates Qatar Airways’ dedication and commitment to this bustling city as an important regional transport and business hub.

This also marks the second time this year that Qatar Airways has increased flights to Hong Kong, having already increased from 7 to 11 weekly flights in January. With international air travel set for rapid growth in 2023, Qatar Airways is also adding over 655 weekly flights to the summer schedule globally.

With flight frequency to Hong Kong going back to pre-pandemic levels, The Ministry of Public Health of Qatar has also lifted the requirement of the pre-travel PCR test result for travellers from China, Hong Kong, and Macau. This brings an end to all travel restrictions in the country.

QR815 departs Hong Kong at 00:25 and arrived in Doha at 04:25. The return journey, QR816, leaves Qatar at 08.20 and arrives at 21.35. QR817 departs Hong Kong at 19:30, arriving in Qatar at 23:10, while QR818 departs Doha at 02:25 and arrives in Hong Kong at 15:05.

Award-winning airline Qatar Airways is increasing flights to Hong Kong for the second time this year, returning frequency to pre-pandemic levels.

“Resuming flight frequency in Hong Kong to pre-pandemic levels is a major milestone in the full recovery of air travel in Asia Pacific,” says Mr Chan Cheong Eu, Senior Manager of North Asia at Qatar Airways. “The city has long been a key travel hub and we believe its return to full traffic will be a welcome development for the entire industry. As the world’s best airline, we are fully committed to this route and we are very excited to be bringing back a full flight schedule to the people of Hong Kong.”

To boost the recovery of tourism and trade recovery in Greater China market, the award-winning airline is also scaling up its capacity to four other cities this summer, including daily flights to Daxing International Airport (PKX) in Beijing, daily flights to Guangzhou and Shanghai, as well as four weekly flights to Hangzhou. This expansion sees Qatar Airways becoming the largest Gulf carrier to operate in Greater China based on overall frequencies with up to 39 weekly departures to five gateways in Summer 2023, offering strengthened flexibility and convenience to business and leisure customers as they plan their summer travels
