Qantas revises the recommencement of its international flights to mid – 2022 to follow the completion of Australia’s vaccine rollout.
The Australian Federal Government has revised its anticipated timeline for the completion of Australia’s vaccine rollout to the end of 2021, as well as its timeline for significantly reopening the country’s international borders in mid-2022.
In light of these two dates, the Qantas Group will adjust its planned international flights (Trans Tasman flights are unchanged) from end-October 2021 to late December 2021. The airline remains optimistic that additional travel bubbles will open up as Australia rolls out its vaccination programme.
This planning assumption will allow the Qantas Group – and Australia – to be ready to take advantage of pockets of tourism and trade opportunity as they emerge in a post-Covid world.
Qantas will reach out directly to any customers with a booking between October 31, 2021, and December 19, 2021, although recent levels of uncertainty mean international booking levels are already relatively low.
Australia’s international borders have been closed since March 2020 and Qantas has had to repeatedly revise its international flight schedule as the country experiences Covid spikes.
