Asia to Get Two New Oakwood Suites Properties

Oakwood has announced that it will expand its portfolio of its business traveller-friendly Oakwood Suites brand in Asia with two new properties. Oakwood Suites Bangkok is scheduled to open in late 2019, while Oakwood Suites Yokohama is slated to open in mid-2020.

Located in the heart of Bangkok’s Phrom Phong district on Sukhumvit Soi 24, Oakwood Suites Bangkok is strategically located within a few minutes of the BTS skytrain station, giving guests access to the city’s CBD and a range of diverse dining, entertainment and shopping options. The new property will offer 232 modern guest rooms in studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment formats that include kitchens, laundry facilities and ensuite bathrooms.

Oakwood Suites Yokohama will be the brand’s 13th property in Japan and the first in Japan’s second-largest city. Occupying seven high-level floors of The Tower Kitanaka, a high-end residential building, the property will have a collection of 175 elegant apartments.

The Yokohama property will offer direct access to the Bashamichi Train station and a number of shopping and dining options. Thanks to its position next to Yokohama Bay, guests will also enjoy waterfront views and access to the Minato Mirai area and Yamashita Park. Guests staying at Oakwood Suites Yokohama will also be able to get to Tokyo with a quick half-hour train ride.

“Oakwood Suites offers residential comfort for well-heeled global citizens who desire unparalleled service delivered in an unobtrusive manner. By expanding into Bangkok and Yokohama, we are greatly increasing Oakwood Suites’ footprint and bringing a new type of contemporary luxury to guests and travellers alike in both markets,” said Dean Schreiber, interim chief executive officer of Oakwood and managing director of Oakwood Asia Pacific.

“Mapletree is pleased to expand our lodging footprint in Japan. Oakwood Suites Yokohama will be our second Mapletree-owned serviced apartment in Japan, following Oakwood Apartments Azabudai, Tokyo. As part of our business strategy, Mapletree will continue to pursue opportunities to develop and acquire assets, and bring the Oakwood brand to global markets,” said Mr Chua Tiow Chye, deputy group chief executive officer of Mapletree.
