New Sophistication in Taipei

Twenty-five years after opening as the first, true international luxury hotel in the capital, the Grand Hyatt Taipei has re-emerged from a multi-million dollar renovation as one of the most sophisticated, urban hotels in East Asia. From public spaces and restaurants to the hotel’s 853 guest rooms, the extensive top-to-toe renovation has thrust the hotel to the forefront of the city’s luxury accommodation scene, making it the ideal home-away-from-home for business travellers.

“With this re-launch, in terms of rooms and restaurants, we’re now a brand new property,” says general manager Kai Speth. “But with a 25 year history in this same location, we’re also the most seasoned hotel in the city. We’ve got the best of both worlds.”

Corporate road warriors will love the new look across the guest rooms and suites, which range from 33-40sqm. Each guest room now boasts deep soak tubs wreathed in marble, sophisticated lighting that caters to both work and play, goose down duvets on king-sized beds, and over-sized picture windows that create a contemporary apartment feel.

In addition the hotel’s acclaimed Club Lounge, a popular haven for business travellers, has been re-imagined, with new high counters cultivating opportunities for convivial breakfasts with fellow travellers and window-side alcoves preserving a certain measure of privacy. A new, open show kitchen whets appetites for Eastern and Western comfort food all morning long.

Beyond the rooms, the all new Grand Hyatt Taipei is trumpeting two completely new restaurants, a Chinese restaurant, Yun Jin, and a Western venue, The Steakhouse, each a completely new concept and a ground-up build. Yun Jin’s debut was in February. Work on the Steakhouse, which is set to be the new home of power lunches in the city, begins later this year. taipei.grand.hyatt.com
