Vietnam Airlines has taken delivery of its fifth Boeing 787-10 aircraft, its 30th wide-body aircraft joining the carrier’s growing fleet.
The 787-10 has the largest size in the Boeing 787 family with a length of over 68 metres, a commercial payload of 56 to 60 tons and the ability to cover a maximum distance of nearly 12,000 km.
With a two-class configuration with 24 seats in Business Class and 343 seats in Economy Class, the new addition will help bolster the airline’s standing with business travellers.
The Boeing 787-10 boasts a range of technological advancements and modern amenities tailored to enhance the passenger experience. Highlights include a spacious cabin, comfortable seats, large overhead bin and windows, a modern entertainment system, adjustable LED lighting, a lower cabin altitude, cleaner air, higher humidity, and improved temperature control.
The Business Class cabin of the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner has a staggered herringbone layout, with direct aisle access offering passengers a more private and comfortable space. It has fully convertible flat-bed seats, with a generous seat pitch and reclining seats up to 180 degrees which make it perfect for long-haul journeys. Passengers will also appreciate other convenient features, including personal entertainment devices with touch screens; an array of entertainment options; dimmable windows with five settings; reading lights; USB ports; and a spacious footrest and compartments.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner has outstanding operational and fuel efficiency. It is designed to be more environmentally friendly than previous generations of aircraft, with 25 per cent lower fuel consumption and emissions.
Vietnam Airlines currently operates nearly 100 aircraft, including five Boeing 787-10s; 11 Boeing 787-9s; and 14 Airbus A350s in its wide-body category. The airline mainly deploys wide-body aircraft on flights to Northeast Asia, Europe, Australia, the United States, as well as between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The ongoing fleet expansion allows Vietnam Airlines to effectively accommodate passenger demand during peak periods, which is important given aircraft shortage following engines being recalled on a global scale.
“Being the flag carrier of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines is committed to upgrading and expanding our fleet,” says Dang Anh Tuan, executive vice president of Vietnam Airlines. “We aim not only to provide the highest levels of passenger comfort but also to fulfill our mission of connecting Vietnam with the world, therefore significantly supporting its economic and social development.”
